Andile Mtshali

Dr. Andile Mtshali graduated with a Ph.D. degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is currently pursuing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA) Mucosal Immunology Laboratory. Currently, Dr. Mtshali is undertaking studies to understand the drug resistance in sexually transmitted infections and other vaginal microbial communities, to ensure the efficacy of the current regimen and better management of these infections. She also contributes to the production of the next generation of African scientists by training postgraduate students and lecturing on mucosal immunology in an Advanced Immunology class for Honour’s students in the Department of Medical Microbiology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She sorts to strengthen critical skills along the product development pathway which highly aligns with her research priorities.
